Consulting approach scope
Lokal Group Consulting Team covers the whole business spectrum that ranges from setting the overall corporate strategy to delivering operational improvement through implementation of predetermined action plans.
The Consulting Team will be assigned through one of two approaches: Top-Down (starting with a more strategic business view and is our most preferable approach), or Bottom-Up (focusing on individual operational functions). This will largely depend upon the type of the business and the level of maturity it has reached.
Our consulting Team will determine the scope of the consulting assignment in light of our numerous strong standardized product offerings in addition to our capability to tailor these offerings and customize them to address each client’s specific requirements.
Pre-Construction management
Pre-construction management can be defined as a particular service that involves implementation, facilitation, scheduling, supervision, quality control and analysis of elements of pre-construction services performed on a Client’s behalf; but specific completed to instructions. Lokal Group’s consultants can offer options and variables of pre-construction services in line with Client’s requirements; specifically aimed at implementation, management, supervision, quality control and analysis of pre-construction services include, but not limited to:
- Feasibility Studies - Design & Constructability Review - Master Scheduling
- Quantity Takeoff - Bills of Quantity - Conceptual Estimating - Scope Definition
- Cost Benefit Analysis - Value Engineering - Preliminary Budgeting Costs
- RFPs & Bid Tender Forms - Proposal Preparation, and Tender Bid Review
Proposal preparation
Strategic proposal preparation activities should be a matter of substance and calculating ‘real-time” options should be a transparent arithmetical presentation, not "smoke and mirrors." At Lokal Group, we will work with your management to assist you in your proposal processes. Individual proposal presentation can make the difference between a project delivery success or failure. In today's market, it is not enough to just turn in a larger number; let's face it, if your competitors did not have a similar product or service, they would not be your competition. Failure is not an option for our Lokal Group, where our consultants will put our best efforts into letting you, the “Client” know that your company is not only important to us, but why your company is better than any other.
Feasibility study
The purpose of a feasibility study is to determine, at a reasonable cost, if there are problems; thus, any concerns or related problem definition is often followed by a feasibility study. The actual feasibility study is a compressed, “time-capsule’ version the analysis phase of early project development life cycle aimed at issues that can be solved and if they are worth solving. The study can also be viewed as an in-depth problem definer; but it is important to remember that the feasibility study, in its entirety, is only preliminary report based on early known information. In many organizations, the feasibility study reports for all projects are submitted to the client’s steering committee where they either accepted with revised selective actions; or even if the resources should be allocated to solve the problem, not to actually solve the problem.
A well-conducted feasibility study provides a sense of the likelihood of success and of the expected cost of solving the problem, and gives management a basis for making resource allocation decisions. And, because the feasibility study occurs during the pre-designing stages; and before the construction phases of the project development life cycle, the investigatory and discovery process often uncovers unexpected problems or parameters that can significantly change the expected package system scope. It is useful to discover such issues before significant funds have been expended.
However, such surprises make it difficult to plan, schedule, and budget for the feasibility study itself, and close management control is needed to ensure that the cost does not balloon out of control. Starting a new project is a particular high value form of investment for any Client especially where there can be many unknowns. Any construction investment carries risk; therefore, it makes sense to investigate the likelihood of success before committing even expenditure or more major resources
Strategic bidding & Estimating practices
Strategic bidding is a must for all serious. Knowing the probability of success on a bid is crucial to efficient use of company resources. The type of work, number of bidders, contract type and other factors influence your success at bid time. Lokal consultants can implement systems to achieve better overall results. Estimating and bidding practices are evaluated to obtain optimum performance with the client’s ROI in mind. The evaluation of existing practices includes experienced personnel, updating of hardware and software systems, estimate or bid types along with technical information. The report will contain analysis and specific recommendations; in respect to background information, scope needs of the analysis, objectives and final recommendations. Each client recommendation includes the current practice and rational that is incorporated in project, “change management” procedures.
